An Indiana institution
Pizza King has been an east-central Indiana tradition for over 60 years, and the Berne location keeps the ritual alive: you sit down in a booth, pick up the phone at your table, and call in your order. A few minutes later, thin-crust pizza arrives cut into the signature little squares — 'good to the very edge,' as the slogan goes.
What to order
The crackery thin crust is the star. Regulars love the double cheese, the loaded Royal Feast, the Meat Feast, and a local sleeper hit: the Ham & BBQ pizza made with tangy Open Pit barbecue sauce. The breadsticks have their own fan club ('best I've had in a long time' comes up often), and beyond pizza there are stromboli, wrap-ups, oven subs, salads, pasta — even pizza cookies for dessert.
Good to know
Dine-in, carryout, and DoorDash delivery are available, and the dining room is clean, casual, and kid-friendly with plenty of seating. Open 11 to 10 every day, it's one of the later dining rooms in town — families drive in from surrounding towns because they swear the Berne location is the best one around.
