Bowling, Bar & Grill

Spare Time Lanes

Bowl a frame, stay for the pie

Berne's hidden-gem grill

Spare Time Lanes looks like a little bowling alley tucked off US 27 — and it is — but plenty of locals come strictly to eat. The remodeled bar and grill serves some of the best-loved comfort food in Adams County ('classic Midwest Americano,' as one delighted reviewer put it), with a craft beer selection that surprises first-timers and servers that some locals call the best in the county.

What to order

The breaded tenderloins and fresh-topped burgers are Hoosier classics, the chicken wings pair perfectly with a cold one, and the homemade cheese curds disappear fast. After 2 PM the specialty pizza menu kicks in — creations like the Epic Feastza, Fiesta Taco (topped with nacho cheese Doritos), Bacon Burger Blitz, and Mac Attack, on a 12-inch crust or flatbread. Save room for the dessert case — homemade pies and cake slices, with the peanut butter cup pie holding legendary status. Full menus below.

Good to know

The lanes have automatic bumpers, making it a great birthday-party and family spot — they offer full Bowling Birthday Party Packages with pizza or hot dogs, bowling games, and shoe rental included. The place also hosts community events like bingo fundraisers and handles full event bar service — locals have hired them for weddings, where they help navigate permits and ordering. Paved parking and wheelchair ramps round it out. Closed Sundays.
